Just to bring the Convention Committee up to date about convention
registration:

 

We haven't sent anything out yet, because of the issue of sales tax on
registration fees. It does look like it will be necessary to collect and pay
the tax. (We will also apparently be charged a B&O tax later, but can claim
an exemption for that. (By the way, this exemption apparently applies to
convention registration income, but not seminar registration income.)

 

The registration platform needs to calculate the tax and reflect it at
registration.

 

This process is proving more difficult than expected. We are working
directly with two registration platforms. One does this automatically - yay!
But it has the wrong tax rate - Boo! They are working on that. The other one
is working on this as well. Either platform, once the correct rate is worked
out, ought to be acceptable. Just have to get there.

 

A third platform, which is easy for us to use, doesn't calculate or collect
sales tax.

 

Anyway, once we have a good registration link that collects the correct tax
amount then I'll put it in the flyer. We'll send it in an email to all the
contacts we have (our various listservs), and to the Idaho and Oregon
associations, who will forward to their members and likely post to their
websites. We'll also update our website with the links so people can get to
the registration from there.

 

Feel free to let Sean or me know if you have any questions. And thank you
