Note the attached draft of a bill relating to the DOR's assertion that recording fees advanced by title companies are taxable. I don't know if the bill request has been accepted and assigned a senate bill number (sponsored by Senator Hopper).

  1.  Would this bill, if passed, be enough to address the issue?
  2.  Whether or not it is, should it be reviewed now, but particularly now if it's deemed insufficient to address the issue?

Some information for you to share with the others.

Attached is Proposed Legislation drafted by the office of Senator Mark Schoesler's office. Hopefully, this will get the required backing needed.

Also, you will find the WA DOR Petition response.  Of course, the DOR Auditor didn't change his mind based on the initial petition for review. No surprise.

Next steps are to assign the appeal to a tax revenue officer and in the interim hopefully the proposed legislation get some traction and is adopted into law.

Just wanted to keep you and the others up to date.
