Sean has pointed out that at the last Board meeting in August it was decided
to send a survey to operation managers to assess interest in seminars
(attendance seems to have fallen off, particularly from employees of
underwriters), whether to maybe only have one rather than two per year,
location for that single seminar, etc.

 

Such a survey was not prepared or sent. 

 

You will recall that what the Education Committee did decide after the
August Board meeting was to plan for one fall seminar in 2026 at Lynnwood
Event Center. Sean has made those arrangements.

 

Thought should be given to whether a survey will still be worth while, which
can be discussed at next week's Board meeting.

Team, rough idea of what we discussed Tuesday.  I am sure I forgot a few but
wanted to put something out to the group. 

 

In attendance: Myself, Paul Hofman, Marcella Carey, Ben Case, George Peters,
Sean Holland, Maureen Pfaff and Rick Randall (hope I didn't forget anyone)

Not in attendance Ashley Callahan and Michelle Taylor

 

To do items: 

1.	Do we continue to do two or just simplify into one, do we do East or
West location

a.	As discussed, Eastern WA a cheaper option but will folks travel from
West to East

2.	Continue to investigate and review all options for a venue for our
seminar in Fall

a.	Regroup first couple of weeks of September to decide if we are
sticking with Lynnwood or looking at another option

 
i.       Things to consider, venue size, break out rooms, parking and cost
of food

 
ii.        And or limited options for food, maybe continental breakfast and
lunch instead of full breakfast and lunch (seems to be a bit item always on
the feedback lists, folks like to be fed especially if they are locked in a
room all day on a Saturday

3.	Survey needed to get a few of our simple questions out and cascaded
to the board members and in front of the eyes of title and escrow folks,
with some additional help and buy in from the operation managers

a.	What is a viable cost that a manager feels is worthy of paying for
their team member to attend the seminar

 
i.       Is there a cap that a manager wants to pay for these education
opportunities

b.	Is the West side the preferred location for these seminars
c.	Is the East side the preferred location for these seminars

 

Important Dates: Need to have our request for venue in very soon since we
have done in the past a year in advance. If we are looking at the middle two
weeks of September. 

 

 

Jet me know if we have any options for the group to regroup in the next
couple of weeks so we can get an invite out, thanks All! 

 

I will add into my section of the meeting today the notice that we are
working on a short survey to cascade to all members and our need for
managers to help with buy in on the importance of our industry and our
education opportunities.
