(We have paid for lodging – for one thing, they need to make sure they have a room before the block is used up.) The ALTA budgets travel (air fare in particular) and we haven’t paid for that (might make an exception for a room). Obviously, that’s an expense that might be significant, and is part of the negotiation. For Skamania, the prices were sky high (I recall some of the economists wanted like a $10,000 speaking fee). We ended up with someone who just wanted a room and meals, so that was good. (He was from Portland, and was happy to come Monday for the reception and dinner, he sat through our Tuesday meetings, and attended the reception and dinner that evening. So, I registered him and paid for two nights. That’s was a bargain.) That’s why if Anthony can get someone for less, that would be great.
