Hello George - This is big news!  Congrats on putting the WLTA onto your shoulders and carrying the WLTA through so much, including the pandemic.  We will miss you after this year of transition.

As most of you may know by now, George Peters has decided to step down as Executive Director. At the Board and Annual meetings held May 19, 2025, a search committee was appointed to select a candidate for his replacement. The Committee was composed of JP Kissling, Bill Ronhaar and Gerry Guerin, with Jim Blair and Ashley Callahan.

Sean Holland has agreed to replace George as the Executive Director for the WLTA. Sean and George will be co-executive directors starting June 1, 2025, through May 31, 2026. This year-long transition period will allow Sean to gain George's expertise in this role. As of June 1, 2026, Sean Holland will be Executive Director and we will no longer have co-executive directors.

This message outlines the agreement between the search committee and Sean, which needs to be approved by the Board. (A ballot for that purpose is attached to this message.)

1.      Sean will work with George to learn the duties, responsibilities, procedures and tasks necessary to the position. After June 1, 2026, George will support and advise Sean as needed.

2.      George will continue with his current contract until May 31, 2026, which provides compensation of $4,000.00 per month. Note that George's contract expires December 31, 2025, and will be renewed under the same terms for the period from January 1, 2026, though May 31, 2026.

3.      Sean has agreed to a similar contract beginning June 1, 2025, until May 31, 2026, which provides compensation of $1,000.00 per month, after which Sean's contract will provide for compensation of $4,000.00 beginning June 1, 2026 (when George's role concludes). Note that the Board reviews and renews its executive director contract on or about December 31, 2025. Sean's contract will therefore be $1,000 per month from June 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025, and will be renewed for the period of January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026, with compensation of $1,000.00 for the period of January 1, 2026, through May 31, 2026, and compensation of $4,000.00 for the period of June 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026.

4.      Additionally, Sean's contract agrees to cover annual travel costs for Sean and his spouse to attend the ALTA One convention and ALTA Advocacy Summit beginning in 2026. Travel costs include registration, airfare, hotel, meals & car rental/taxis, mileage if appropriate, etc.

5.      Until May 31, 2026, Sean and George will identify as "Co-Executive Director" in correspondence. As necessary, correspondence and webpage information will reflect appropriate contact information for both of them.

6.      Attached are:

a.       The draft contract for Sean Holland.

b.      A ballot for the Board. It has two components: (1) approve Sean Holland as the new Executive Director, and (2) approve the proposed contract terms through 2026 for both Sean and George.
